As an avid hunter and fisherman, Zack Wolf knows a little about preparation and patience. So when he looked into accounting programs as he neared graduation from the University of Alabama, he patiently did his homework. And that led him to Vanderbilt.
"The MAcc degree at Owen offered much more than typical 'fifth-year' programs," says Zack, who also enjoys backpacking, kayaking and playing guitar. He notes that the program was developed with guidance from the public accounting profession to "equip students with the knowledge and skills that firms want to see."
In addition, he says, the MAcc program offers a broad curriculum that integrates with the MBA core curriculum, as well as extensive leadership development opportunities. "I knew this experience would be valuable for career and professional development."
The Owen experience, says Zack, gave him the skills and the credentials he sought to pursue his goal of joining a Big Four public accounting firm. But the program's "well-rounded approach" and emphasis on leadership have also served him in other ways. "Managing the workload taught me to prioritize, which will help me during busy seasons in the profession," he says, "and the group projects taught me to use teamwork to improve efficiency."
