Energizing His Career

After 22 Years, Klee Invested in Broader Skills

Ted Klee joined Square D/Schneider Electric right out of college and hasn't looked back. But two decades later, he was looking ahead to the second half of his career.

He chose to equip himself with an MBA that allowed him to balance work, business travel, school and family. The Vanderbilt Executive MBA program, he says, "gave me a chance to learn new skills, refresh my old ones and open myself up to a lot of diverse perspectives on how other companies achieve their results."

He began seeing results in his work almost immediately—especially as his firm engaged in the process of evaluating and acquiring several other companies. "The accounting and finance courses have made me much more effective in understanding the valuations of companies and what financial issues may be below the surface," he says.

The experience has shaped his world in other ways, too. Learning to better budget his time "has made me much more efficient," Ted says. "It has opened my eyes to many new perspectives on how to deal with issues at work that I now use every day."
Since 1969, Vanderbilt Business has been building a new kind of business leader. The kind who aren't afraid to challenge old ways of thinking. Who don't think they've heard it all before (or pretend they will ever know it all). The persistent kind. People who are ready to work harder and dig deeper, and who put ideas over ego and performance over pedigree.

We attract the kind who are looking not only to succeed in the business world but to shape it for the better. While also shaping their skills, their careers and their futures. All while shaping our own community in ways that make a lasting difference for themselves and others.

You'll find stories here of Vanderbilt Businesspeople, people much like you, who have done all these and more.

We invite you to become a World Shaper yourself. Or to recruit one. And, most of all, to read how Vanderbilt Business has become such a richly shaping experience for so many. Close
