Vanderbilt Executive MBA 2008
Chief Projects Officer at Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations
Steve Brooks was ready to move up. He'd put three daughters through college; two went through grad school as well. Then, he decided, "It was my turn."
A Vanderbilt Executive MBA seemed to be the right choice. Friends recommended the program. He'd seen co-workers earn their MBA through Vanderbilt's Executive Program and move into senior management. "The leadership skills and business acumen developed at Owen gave them an obvious advantage," he says.
His own hard work at Owen paid similar dividends. In January 2008, even before he graduated, he was promoted to President of manufacturing operations, with responsibility for every tire Bridgestone makes in North America. Steve was also recognized by his fellow students when he was presented with the award for leadership in Executive Education at Commencement. Since graduation, he has again been promoted to Chief Projects Officer within the company.
"In my current position, I need to understand how all the pieces of the business fit together. I don't need to know all the answers, but I need to know all the right questions. Now I know what to ask, and how to pursue deeper answers."
