Accelerating into a Masters

Program Propels Milne into Organizational Behavior

In her native Canada, Stephanie Milne entered college aiming to run her own medical practice one day. But after becoming captivated by an elective course in organizational behavior, she began studying psychology and business. Now, she says, "my interests are rooted in human behavior, and I aspire ultimately to become a management and leadership development coach."

To explore her interest in business and which areas of organizational behavior she wanted to pursue as a career, Stephanie decided to attend a summer business program after her junior year in college. As she began researching her options, one jumped out right away — Accelerator.

"I needed to be immersed in a real-world business environment to learn whether this was the field for me," she says. "Accelerator was the only program I found that focused on solving real-world business problems. It provided a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to test the waters of the business world and experiment with my different skills sets."

After completing the program and her undergraduate degree, Stephanie was accepted to one of the top schools of education in the U.S. — Peabody College at Vanderbilt — where she is earning a Masters of Education in Organizational Leadership. "Looking back on where I am now," she says, "Accelerator was what propelled me to apply to graduate school. My experience was nothing short of transformational. It was one of the hardest but most rewarding experiences I have ever participated in."
Since 1969, Vanderbilt Business has been building a new kind of business leader. The kind who aren't afraid to challenge old ways of thinking. Who don't think they've heard it all before (or pretend they will ever know it all). The persistent kind. People who are ready to work harder and dig deeper, and who put ideas over ego and performance over pedigree.

We attract the kind who are looking not only to succeed in the business world but to shape it for the better. While also shaping their skills, their careers and their futures. All while shaping our own community in ways that make a lasting difference for themselves and others.

You'll find stories here of Vanderbilt Businesspeople, people much like you, who have done all these and more.

We invite you to become a World Shaper yourself. Or to recruit one. And, most of all, to read how Vanderbilt Business has become such a richly shaping experience for so many. Close
