Finding Peace of Mind

Executive Gains New Confidence

Nathaniel Richardson Jr. draws on a quarter century of experience in strategic planning, integrating dynamic processes and overseeing cardiac services for the Huntsville Hospital Health System. But he also wanted to draw on deeper knowledge and broader expertise, especially in finance, to fulfill his responsibilities more effectively.

He found that Vanderbilt’s MM Health Care fit the bill. Along with a combination of “theoretical knowledge and practical experience,” the program offered a bonus. “The social events included my family and allowed them to participate in the process,” says Nathaniel, a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives. “That enhanced their understanding and support of my decision to go back to school.”

After one year, he says he took back to Huntsville a better understanding of managerial economics, a broader perspective for decision-making, and new “professional and personal tools to think critically through challenging situations.”

“Owen has given me peace of mind and confidence, and it has expanded my network, which is all-important in my professional growth,” Nathaniel says. “It is one of the best educational decisions I have ever made.”
Since 1969, Vanderbilt Business has been building a new kind of business leader. The kind who aren't afraid to challenge old ways of thinking. Who don't think they've heard it all before (or pretend they will ever know it all). The persistent kind. People who are ready to work harder and dig deeper, and who put ideas over ego and performance over pedigree.

We attract the kind who are looking not only to succeed in the business world but to shape it for the better. While also shaping their skills, their careers and their futures. All while shaping our own community in ways that make a lasting difference for themselves and others.

You'll find stories here of Vanderbilt Businesspeople, people much like you, who have done all these and more.

We invite you to become a World Shaper yourself. Or to recruit one. And, most of all, to read how Vanderbilt Business has become such a richly shaping experience for so many. Close
