Danielle Craig Developed Global Understanding and Friendships

Danielle Craig has a special appreciation for a Taiwanese dessert that one of her classmates prepared for Owen's Global Food Festival-a confection involving berries, crushed ice and cubes of sugar. After all, if your specialty is human resources, and one of your aspirations is to live and work abroad, it's vital to learn more about other cultures and how people of different backgrounds relate to each other.

That's one of the things Danielle, who spent her internship working in Human Resources for GE, values most about her Owen experience. "The international exposure here is phenomenal," she says. "I've cultivated many friendships with people from around the world.

"Understanding other customs, cultures and business practices is a positive correlation for my personal and professional growth. This exposure will enhance my ability and knowledge as a Human Resources professional and business leader."

Danielle, who served as president of Owen's Human and Organizational Performance Association, also gained new understanding of herself. "I am learning to develop my strengths while improving my weaknesses," she says. "My confidence has increased so much."
Since 1969, Vanderbilt Business has been building a new kind of business leader. The kind who aren't afraid to challenge old ways of thinking. Who don't think they've heard it all before (or pretend they will ever know it all). The persistent kind. People who are ready to work harder and dig deeper, and who put ideas over ego and performance over pedigree.

We attract the kind who are looking not only to succeed in the business world but to shape it for the better. While also shaping their skills, their careers and their futures. All while shaping our own community in ways that make a lasting difference for themselves and others.

You'll find stories here of Vanderbilt Businesspeople, people much like you, who have done all these and more.

We invite you to become a World Shaper yourself. Or to recruit one. And, most of all, to read how Vanderbilt Business has become such a richly shaping experience for so many. Close
